Bilateral and unilateral, Deafness in Havanese occurs with unknown frequency. Unilateral deafness (hearing loss in only one ear) usually goes unnoticed unless discovered through a BAER test (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response.)

Coat and Skin disorders

Short haired phenotype. Occasionally there will be a short haired Havanese in a litter. These pups are genetic “throw backs.” These puppies are in every other way like their long haired brothers and sisters, but do not have the typical long silky coat. Hip and Elbow Dysplasia and Legg Calve-Perthes Disease

Generally speaking… a malformation between the ball and socket of the joint.
